Hello all,

While searching for new articles about the Singularity I came across this interesting article which I didn't understood so well.

As a new user I can't send here links so please search in Google for:

"The Singularity Just Got A Lot Closer"

Can someone please explain this in simple words? what can this software do? Can I fed it with books and stories and it can then answer questions about them like a human?

They claim that it can learn just like a human, but what's the actual meaning of this? isn't it a Real AI ?

(very hard to believe)

Please explain.

Thanks!

Well, did someone check it already?

What did you understand from that?

(By the way when I asked about the books and stories fed to the application of course that it was a rhetorical question just to clarify my point, and I'm sure that it doesn't have that ability)

So, if someone understood what it is all about please explain.

Thanks :-)

OK, this thread can be deleted... I got to a conclusion that it's probably more advertising than a real breakthrough in this field.

Thanks, and sorry if it was a stupid question :-)

The links was interesting and the question is valid. If not a breakthrough it looks like a good progress.

I found interesting the following interview with Dr. Ben Goertzel (Chairman of H+ between others) on Artificial General Intelligence, Transhumanism and Open Source. All the efforts mentioned therein should push us closer to the singularity:

Markram’s Blue Brain Project (see also elsewhere in the Forum), IBM’s Dharmendra Modha’s project, quantum effects as per Stuart Hameroff (Penrose's quite critic approach not mentioned though), ALCOR’s Max Moore perspectives and many others are cited in the interview. Good read!
