Researchers at the University of Leeds have discovered a pain-free way of tackling dental decay that reverses the damage of acid attack and re-builds teeth as new.

Thanks for the info. Looks promising. I'll have to keep track of it.

I wonder how it helps with tooth decay sinc previously decayed teeth are infected with bacteria. In fact if they put a filling in and there is bacteria behind the filling often you risk a root canal.

There are a couple of other interesting research prospects for tooth regrowth: ultrasound & calcium solutions (organic and inorganic) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recaldent

True, hopefully extended clinical trials will reveal the its limitations.

Instead of refurbishing old teeth, why not grow new from stem cells:

All of the technologies, that You are posting here at this moment (2011 year) are in an experimental stage, and are not approved so far as a treatment method from the health organizations of many countries (if not from all of the health organizations).
The effect of them is discutable, since the fillings and the implants are very effective, and have some benefits (dental materials v/s regrown enamel - dental materials do not catch tooth decay again). Clonned teeth implantation has small chances to work, close to these when reimplanting an expulsed tooth. Better chances have the titanium dental implants.

You are right, hence us talking about clinical trials, researchers and researchers :)

Who is making cloned teeth?

The closest thing I've used for filling without drilling is DMG Icon. It works for certain things but certainly not for everything.
