Hi,

Just wondering if anyone here would be taking resveratrol along with thyroid medication - eltroxin (100mg).
Any known contraindications?

I'm considering resveratrol and am on eltroxin.
Just thought i'd check before i start.

Thanks!

My brother is taking thyroxine (whether it is eltroxin or another form of thyroxine I do not know) and also takes 500 mg of resveratrol daily. I assume he cleared it with his doctor, but in any case it seems to do him no harm nor do I know of any reason there should be a negative interaction.

Thanks maxwatt,

Would you know if he gives a time lapse between the dosages?
Thyroxine is usually recommended on an empty stomach and res seems to work best on an empty stomach too.
But some material i've read suggests not dosing on anything till at least a couple of hours after you've popped your thyroid meds.
(calcium supplements for instance are usually recommended at pm so they don't interfere with thyroxine)

Just wondering if your brother follows a particular time plan?

Thanks

HE waits an hour after taking thyroxine in the morning, then waits an hour before taking or eating anything. He has resveratrol before or with breakfast. Food slows absorption of resveratrol but does not stop it.
