~Was curious what some members on the board use for sourcing their water or obtaining clean water.

~Ive seen people touting that most processes that strip minerals out of the water(RO/distillation/de-ionizers) "could" have adverse affects(in theory?).

I can't grasp that.

Would those same minerals that are filtered, be the same ones that are leached?(an eye for an eye?).
Wouldn't a mineral that is being utilized already, not be affected?
At what point in the body do people think this process(leaching) takes place?

Do you think this is a myth(leaching)? Or does it hold true to one of the above(RO/distillation/de-ionization
-----
~Do you use any type of re-mineralization process?

Ive heard of people adding sea salts, rice grains(?), trace mineral drops, to help re-mineralize their water. I also came across Bioplasma(cell salts), which contains 12 minerals that dissolve easily in water.
-----

Would like to get an opinion on some stage processes though if you all would be kind enough.

~Are UV sanitizers that necessary? Was under the impression that chlorine/chloramine got rid of bacteria before it hits the taps. I guess the argument might change
if it's being sourced from a lake to a water municipal or from a stream/well. Then again if there wasn't a UV sanitizer present, it seems the system could succumb to bacteria.
Someone did die though(in Louisiana) around 4 months using a neti cup for nasal cleaning.

~What do you think of water de-ionization?

~Alkaline Cartridges? A few RO systems I see offer alkaline cartridges. Some use them after a de-ionizer cartridge and others don't.

I'm planning to get a reverse osmosis system(one that contains the DI/Alkaline/UV), but was wanting to ask the questions above.

For now I'm using RO water and re-mineralizing with Concentrace mineral drops. ~20 drops per gallon. The added minerals help most of my teas taste better thatn with just RO water. Some exceptions are many Taiwanese high mountain oolongs.

Don't know how good Concentrace drops are for the long term though.

Just wanted to follow up on this and what I planned to do as far as water is concerned. Doing a separate setup consisting of no membrane, but with DI for hydroponics purposes(whenever I get things in place).

6 Stage RO w/ Permeate Pump
1st Stage: 5 Micron Sediment Filter
2nd Stage: 5 Micron GAC Filter (might swap it for a better GAC filter and place it @ 3rd stage) (GAC is touted to be for chloramine)
3rd Stage: 5 Micron Carbon Block Filter (might swap to 2nd stage, reading more on things)
4th Stage: TFC Membrane (will probably only use it for 2-5 GPD)
5th Stage: Post Carbon Filter
6th Stage: UV Sterilization (probably not needed except for whatever may be able to be built up from the system)

For now I'm using RO water and re-mineralizing with Concentrace mineral drops. ~20 drops per gallon.

Don't know how good Concentrace drops are for the long term though.

I'm going to do the same as well, using what I think are the same drops(from concentrace), but using them @ 10 drops per 2.5gal. Along with a few tabs of bioplasma(since they dissolve in water).

Anyways, thought there would be more discussion on this since I take it water is a important aspect, but maybe I just wrote a shitty original post :-D

Regarding Concentrace- It's mostly magnesium chloride and sulfate. I found this detailed analysis of it, and at least it doesn't contain a high concentration of any toxic heavy metals. It's 1500 ppm in inorganic bromide, which might be a concern to people who worry about iodine displacement. If you use 1ml of the concentrated material, you'll get 102mg Mg++, 1.5 mg Br-, 0.760mg Li+, and 41 ug Se. I don't see any grave problems, unless it's high in mercury, which was strangely not in the analysis, or any other badness.

Thanks for that link. Doesn't really look that great compared to how I thought the actual product was. Still up on the fence on this considering the main minerals on the list I already get.
Maybe I'm just wasting money on the trace mineral drops.
