slightly impatient for the age of intelligence explosion, I wonder: how long will it take for human beings (slightly rich, but not extremely) to finally do something against their current miserable state of intelligence? What techniques would be the first available? My guess is, in the following chronological order: 1. supplementation 2. genetic therapies 3. brain chips 4. nanotech 5. ?
Anyway, my main concern is, is there anything we can do now beside supplementation (geeky games are not permitted since they are a waste of time, and any claims of increased intelligence thereof are bogus anyway (they don't generalize across other domains, and might even decrease your performance in other domains, because of the amount of energy you put into them)

I empathize with your impatience. I think ampakines, whenever they become available will significantly increase intelligence, as well as tDCS, eeg machines, brain-computer interfaces etc. It will happen i think, within the next 5-8 years (ampakines and BC interfaces on a larger scale) but tDCS is already available and extremely effective/safe.

hm this tDCS thing seems interesting. By applying current to our scalp, we can learn better, it seems. My question is: if this, as papers suggest, increase neural plasticity, aren't there any negative side-effects of neural plasticity?

Do you currently use any tDCS? Is it the GoFlow kit? What are your experiences?

well i dont have any personal experience yet, as the go flow device hasn't been released unfortunately. but all the studies indicate that tDCS can increase certain aspects of intelligence. as soon as i get the kit though, I'll report my experiences on the forum.
