Hey Guys,

Yesterday I took 500mg of a drug store brand Rhodiola, after about and hour I got a slight headache then I felt all happy and giddy. I just start laughing, turned on, I just felt like everything was going to be ok. But this feeling slowly started to fade and my old feeling just creept in, within an hour I was back to my old mood.
My normal mood is that of down, depressed, unmovitated, sad, stressed ,anxious nothing is ever going to get better....you know what I mean. But for a moment yesterday I felt like I use to a few years ago.

Today I tried again, but did not get anything. I want the good feeling back, why did it not work again?

My other supplements that I have been taking:
1 week of Ginkgold@240mg/day
DMAE h3 for the last three days
Lechithin@2.4g/day for the last two weeks.

Get off the cholinergics if you're depressed in cased it's aggravating it. Rhodiola increases dopamine of all things, but the dmae and lecithin might counter that to a degree.

I thought Rhodiola increased serotonin primarily? I guess it increases both. Anyhow, the fact you responded so favorably (albeit for a short time) is a good thing! Try and isolate the primary cause of the feelings of well being. Was it the dopamine or serotonin? Buy some Tyrosine and take 1000MG in isolation for a week and see if your mood increases. Buy some Sam-e and take 400MG for a week and see whether your mood increases. Maybe your mood increases on both supplements?

Building an effective stack is a process of trial & error. You have to try a bunch of substances and piece together which neurotransmitters you're lacking by a process of elimination through the supplements you're taking. Once you find that out, it gets easier. I would also recommend taking a modulator with your preferred substance once you find out what it is. Inositol works well for serotonin modulation and apparently uridine for dopamine (only tried the inositol since I'm a serotogenic responder). This has been my experience anyway.

Either way, take this experience as a clue and build off it. Don't just attribute this feeling as a "one-off event". There's a reason you felt so devine, albeit for a fleeting hour. Give yourself a 6 month timeline to feel better, a $300 budget, and go try some like supplement in different neurotransmitter categories to better grasp your deficiencies. Get some exercise and perhaps some therapy. Just make sure you don't take anything your body can't handle.

Cheers for the replies.
I'm getting confused, because I keep reading contradictary information, some people are saying the lecithin and dmae can be used to help with depression, then some say, like certain labels to avoid using them if oyu have depression. huh?

Anyway I going to give artic root a shot next.

A quick update, today I was really down and kept beating myself up. I tried artic root in the moring, no other supps, it did nothing. I had no food for most of the day until after 3pm. This is when I had 2tblspoons of lecithin granuales with a quick snack. After 20mins my mood lightened up, I felt bit more positive.
Now, it is probably to early to say for sure if it was the lecithin, It could just that I had some food, but we will see in the coming days.
Any one elese have experiences like this with the lechthin granuales?
