For starters I'm very new to anything related to genes and am just starting to learn, so please bear with me. While doing a ketogenic diet recently I decided to get analysis from 23andme to make sure I wasn't going to put myself into the hospital with such a high cholesterol intake.
On an unrelated note, it looks like my results are in and it says I've got a 34.8% risk of prostate cancer based on my gene profile. That's almost twice as high as the average risk rate. Also increased risk of melanoma but as a ginger I basically knew that already.
For a little background on myself I'm a 29 year old male, 6'11", 185lbs (around 15% body-fat). Previously a pack a day smoker but quit about 7 months ago. History of alcoholism (over 1 year total abstinence from alcohol). Mother's side grandma died of lymphoma, father's side grandmother got lung cancer (non-smoker) but was successfully operated on and has caused no problem in the last 10 years. Father's side grandfather has Alzheimer's (onset at age 70 after bypass heart surgery). Most of that info is probably not applicable.
Here is a screen shot montage of all the genes they have listed as related to the prostate cancer risk.

9 downloadsMy question is: What supplements can I start taking now or what life-style decisions/precautions can I take to decrease the possibility of of developing prostate cancer?
Thanks
