The story is more or less about how the male DNA protects women from Alzheimer's but the more interesting part is the fact this is further proof for brain regeneration in young people.

It is well established fact that fetal DNA appears in maternal blood during pregnancy. What is news here is that these DNA can also cross the blood brain barrier. Theoretically, both sons and daughters' DNA can end up in mother's brain. However, due to the study only looking at a Y-chromosome marker, the daughter DNA was not measured.

The study also found that mother with more sons' DNA is less likely to have Alzheimer. However, it only showed a correlation within a very small study. Further research needs to be done to elucidate this finding.
