I've stumbled more than once about hints that resveratrol could also lower cholesterol/LDL.
Did anybody taking resveratrol have such an effect and if yes, at what kind of dose?

It never touched mine, even when I was taking 1 gram of 99% a day.

I never noticed any effects on HDL, LDL or cholesterol levels.

Yes, along with regular exercise and a vegan CRON diet (15%Protein, 34%Fats, 51%Carbs) reducing my calories by 30%. I started taking 250 mg resv and had to reduce due to ankle pain. I currently take about 50 mg daily. I don't care which one worked, but my cholesterol numbers normalized.
TC 223->138,
TG 219->50,
HDL 32->56,
LDL 156->73.

@scotknl - impossible to separate resveratrol's effects from vegan cron diet and exercise, which could possible have been responsible.

I too have noted no radical change in blood lipids I could attribute to resveratrol. But vegetarian reduces my total cholesterol dramatically, to 160 from slightly above 200. Unfortunately it also reduces my HDL.

If you're not already doing so, allow yourself 10 g of saturated fats daily. It may bring up the HDL levels and improve your overall cholesterol risk ratios. I have 10g of saturated fats and about 10-20mg of cholesterol in my diet along with a 4:1 ratio of Omega-6:Omega-3 fatty acids.
Cheers and best of luck getting your numbers from very good into excellent.

Right now I am more concerned with getting my mitochondria regenerated and my brown fat working again. ;) But thanks. What's your source of saturated fat on a vegan diet? Coconut oil?

Mostly peanut butter, a variety of nuts and seeds and olive oil.

I eat a hell of a lot of nuts, mostly almonds, hazel and walnuts.

I have peanuts, cashews, walnuts, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds all in small amounts sprinkled in with my meals and snacks thru out the day. I balance out the omega-3's using ground flaxseed.

Those are very impressive numbers of course! But I rather think they increase my motiviation to keep my CR efforts up.

Yes in combination with diet, exercise, 10 mg lipitor 3 x week and 1,500 grams of 98% resveratrol daily.

I run 4.7 m/h for one hour every other day
Heart rate stationary in the 90's
Full run heart rate is around 137
On the chart my heart rate running is about the equivalent of a 40 year old
I needed a many years to achieve
My lipid profile is one year old June '12, I will be seeing my MD on Monday
I dropped a couple pounds and run faster than last year

How do you know if any change in cholesterol /LDL wasn't just from taking Lipitor?

Could 10 milligrams of lipitor 3 X Week be the only factor my Chol/LDL profile last year was acceptable?
It might help lower my LDL. I want to point out that 10 mg x 3 is a very low dose.
On the other hand I think Res modulates Lipitor.
Diet, exercise, lipitor 10mg X 3 times Week and 1,500 mg/day Resveratrol used in a regiment.
But before Resveratrol I had extremely high Triglycerides and high LDL.
On my June 2012 Lipid profile
my Trig is 131 <150
My LDL is 101 <130
My CHOL/HDLC Ratio = 4.6 <or=5.0
Before Res my weigh was near 200 and now I am at 172 pounds.
Lipitor might help lower LDL but is not indicated for Triglycerides.
I need to wait a couple months for my new lipid profile test results.
Since last year I have changed my diet to predominately Lettuce. (yes lettuce)
And I have substituted most sugar intake with Sucrolose.
Additionally I was running near 4 miles last year and now I can do over 4.25 miles.
Plus my heart rate has declined to where if I am running 4 MPH my heart rate is about 108 to 112. (low)
I have to wait maybe this visit or next since a year will be May/Jume for another lipid profile.
Unless I can persuade my MD to do my blood tests early.
LOOKS like it is more than just the Lipitor. :)
