guys, do you have IRC address ? we should be able to have actual chat on here, not just delayed forum responses.

We used to have different types of chats available right here in the forum. We could make it a feature again if there is enough interest.

I think chat capability would be great for the site.

We will bring it up in the next management meeting and talk to the engineer team to see how easy it will be to implement - see what options there are. We will probably want to poll forum participants to better gauge the interest.

Personally, I would want it to be a simple as possible. Just text.

yeh thats what i mean. a simple chatbox you can open on the forum and chat someone who is online real time. because i come from IRC where we always communicate real time, its really a discomfort for me when i get replies up to days later from people i want to communicate with at the same time.
Mind, when is the next management meeting anyway ?

agreed.

also something without footprints would be nice, so it is not a standard saved feature for either side (i realize either party could just copy the text/screen dump). It may promote the use of the tool.

There will be a management meeting in March. Not sure on the date yet. I will certainly make everyone aware of this thread before hand.

I'd like to see our own channel on a site like stickam. Maybe there is a similar service we could use?

Management did not seem too thrilled about installing a chat client. What about google hangout? Maybe LongeCity could have a Google+ account and use the hangout for instant chat, or a persistent Skype chat?

what ? i dont get it. why is that nobody approved of a chat box on the forum ? its really simple fast and convinient. i guess it requires some type of work and nobody is willing !
