I doubt that you'll see any difference if you're taking the same dose. I've always taken magnesium in the morning, and I don't feel sleepy during the day, for what it's worth. Is magnesium really a sleep aid? Anyone here have any luck with it?

I suppose mag glycinate, in theory, may help more with sleep due to the glycine. Or you may be better off just taking plain glycine.

Neither magnesium or glycine helped with my sleep any though, not that a single person's reaction means a whole lot.

Magnesium didn't really help with my sleep either, immediately anyway. Over the period of months (5-6), taking 500mg daily (250mg morn, 250mg night), I think I have mostly reversed a Mg deficiency that I had, and my sleep is of a better quality as a result.

I take magnesium malate at bed time and it seems to improve my time to sleep and sleep quality. First noticed it with ZMA then decided to try with straight magnesium, and had the same effect. My sister reports more daytime energy when she takes it, but she isn't sure whether it is sleep related or not (might also be related to CFS which was diagnosed by her doctor)
