Research focussed on programs in the areas of infectious diseases and degenerative diseases .
Currently has five compounds in clinical development: MX-3253 (celgosivir) antiviral agent under development for the treatment of chronic Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infection. MX-4509 is an orally administered sodium salt of 17á-estradiol 3-sulphate under development for the treatment of mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease. MX-226 a antibiotic for the prevention of catheter-related infections.
MX-594AN antibiotic for the treatment of acne. MX-1121 antisense oligonucleotide drug in clinical development for the treatment of diseases associated with Human Papillomavirus (HPV) such as genital warts

They aquired MitoKor (formerly Applied Genetics) in 2004 which was studying mitochondrial therapies.

MitoKor didn't really have a product and was running out of money. They were lead into the merger by CEO Walter Moos, a savy and experienced promoter who's now on the board of Migenix.
