Has anyone tried MitoQ serum? The active ingredient, MitoQ, allegedly enters mitochondria and reduces ROS.  When applied to skin, this reduces accumulated UV damage, improves skin texture, and eliminates fine lines.

Most of these claims are made my the manufacturer, however I did find a blog with UV before / after photography:

Seems to me no different compared to e.g. topical L Ascorib Acid (Vitamin C)?

What if you have no UV damage. Your skin just sucks due to the path of damage acne has left you.

I tried the capsule, but not the serum. I felt absolutely felt horrible after taking the MitoQ supplement however, and stopped taking it. For now, I only take a liquid form of CoQ10. I would be interested in anyone's experience with the MitoQ serum, however. Keep us posted if you start using it.

I have been taking both the pills and the cream for about 4 months now. I have noticed benefits from both.

The cream, which I started on first, does what the bottle says - or what the reviewers of it say anyway. After a couple of days your face feels firmer and unfrazzled. What I mean is my face doesn't feel like it is sagging anymore - I am only 38 so it is in reasonably good condition anyway - but since late 20s it always felt tired like I had been staring at computer screens all day or something, but now using the cream I feel fresh faced like I am 25 again (well almost). Also, you should notice that your colour may become slightly brighter, more even and almost dewey looking. It kind of fade freckles away and your skin will feel soft and smooth all the time. I couldn't say that I have noticed a reduction in fine lines yet - hopefully just a case of these things taking time, though I am currently getting those creases coming down from the nostrils along the side of the mouth (planet of the apes mouth) so wish it would hurry up. But it is definitely the only thing I have ever put on my face that actually did something tangible and longlasting. those first few weeks do feel a bit like magic.

Because of the cream actually having done something I splashed out on the pills too - just the normal dosage 10mg a day. I didn't really expect anything but was pleased that again almost immediately I stopped sleeping in the afternoons and felt - until it became the new norm - alert and slightly buzzy. Like I said, I don't notice it anymore but just feel awake all the time so long as I have a good nights sleep. My dad is on statins and my mother and him are old and tired so I suggested they try it. She's said the same as what I have and was very positive, but dad doesn't reckon it's done him anything much except that he feels awake in the mornings when before he couldn't wake up properly - a bit annoying as he is on double dosage! I also got my brother onto it - where is my commission - he is saying he sleeps really well now but that is it. I already slept well so didn't notice anything there.

If you've got the money I'd recommend it but it is pricey. I wish they had better discounts if you bought in higher quantities, etc - they are pretty stingy in that way.

In closing, I would only recommend going on mitoq if you can keep it up as I think I would be pretty bummed out having to stop now they've got me hooked

ps I am not a mitoq mole if I am sounding a bit too positive.

I tested the serum on half my forehead, in a manner described by niner (he said he tests on one half of his face).

The verdict? In a couple of weeks there's been a subtle, yet  discernible improvement!

It's not a miracle. Yet given the time frame, it's encouraged me to continue.

If the benefits don't diminish -- I.e. I my skin continues to improve --, then the effects would be well beyond my initial expectation.

I'm hesitant to wax lyrical too much, given I'm only n=1. I would  recommend giving it a trial, though!

Haha, I love the kiwi sense of humor... Sounds like it's worked so far, might give it a whirl myself. Though, considering you are a man, if this is the first facial cream you've ever tried in your life then it doesn't say much! hah. welcome to longecity, by the way!

Yeah, I think you could be right in that maybe my skin was in really bad nick as I wasn't using anything before and so had such a good initial reaction - this is what my sister reckons too as she always looked after her skin and her first date with mitoq wasn't as meaningful as mine. Saying that, it still feels great to put the cream on and if you stop using it your face feels starved and awful (caught in a trap or what!) but unless it's doing structural wonders behind the scenes it seems a lot of money for no, as yet, wrinkle banishment! And every week there's new evidence that the end of my face is still nigh.

I think I prefer the pills as I still have that energy level lift from when first started and still don't nap in the day anymore - they are certainly more inline with the gist of this site anyway. I would be interested to see what a higher dose does.

So in closing, I may have been a bit too optimistic in my first post but still, if you got the money...

Well, I am back. Been away for a bit. But I was interested to see what folks had to say about the mitoq pills and I saw this thread also.

I got a bottle of the Mito-Q serum in a Discover Marta beauty box. My 51 year old skin took a sudden downturn at 51, and it seems to have now been reversed and then some. My skin is bright and the barely perceptible sagging near my cheek bone is 99% gone. So yes, I am wrinkle free at 51.

The skin color change was the most remarkable. I would have to say that my skin is back to the bright and alive white shade that I enjoyed in my thirties. Before this it had turned sallow and dark and splotchy.

Now I was using a new eye cream and spreading it down to the sagging cheek bone area right below my eyes. So this could have possibly contributed to that half of my results. This eye cream is the Sciote firming eye cream. Never cared for an eye cream before this.

Accelerated skin aging is very scary for a woman. So all I can say is whew! Now off to read some more about the supplement.

Its good, I was experiencing a sudden bout of much better skin maybe from consistent vit c use recently, but this mitoq works fast, makes me a bit red if used twice per day but yeah it works fast skin is firmer and just better even after just 3 days have not ever used anything else that give so much results so early.

I am finishing my first bottle but I have not seen any noteworthy results :(  I have not noticed even a slightest reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. It is also not moisturizing enough. I don't know why they call it moisturizing.

Im half way through traveling all over Europe for 2 months, have the stuff with me and have been using it less often now. Im going to get back into twice a day. Yes it is not moisturising and could even be drying. Not so impressed anymore, think that my vitamin C and skin peels were doing more in the past. Wouldnt pay over $100 for this to reorder, I got it for $60USD on special.

But if I had tons of cash laying around then I would order it.

Want to give it a try again using it morning and night. Here I have used nothing except sunscreen, have no moisturiser so thats a problem as this stuff really needs a moisturizer with it.

Is anyone still using the serum? I am wondering if the initial results stay (or even improve) with continued, long-term use.

Please update!

I have noticed nothing from using this serum. Waste of money, IMO.

May I ask your age? How long did you use it for? And are/were you on Retin A?

I am 36 and I used it for 4 months (2 bottles) + their supplement (3 months). And I have noticed NADA. I was/am on Retin A.

Thanks, Beauty - that's useful info (I'm also 36 and on Retin A). I asked because I am really interested in this product but suspect that only older people see results with it. And that maybe on top of that retinized skin is just not easily impressed with most products.
