I don't seem to be deficient in B12 because several blood tests are approx 650 to 700 ng/L and that's considered normal/high.

However, when I take B12 (methylcobalamin) at night I feel better the following morning.  I don't do this every night.

Why does taking B12 help me so quickly if I have a body store of two years worth of B12?

Kabb,

The metabolism of B12 is extremely complicated and serum B12 levels do not say very much. Assessing the socalled Active-B12 (or: Holo-TC) levels  would say a bit more. It just could be that yours are lower than average while your total B12 is okay.

This website is sadly lacking about this longevity limiting vitamin, but in UK you have the Pernicious Anemia Society . Their website is a vast source of information about B12.

Hope this helps!
