Most cryonacists think think that they have good cryonics protection because they are signed up with a cryonics organizations. Unfortunately this is not enough. The brain is the most vulnerable organ of oxygen deprivation. It receives major damage after ten minutes of oxygen deprivation The brains downward slide continues at a fast rate. After two hours Alcor will not treat patients with a cryoprotective  because the chemical will not get into the brain. It is to late. Only a straight freeze will be given.

It can take cryonic emergency workers hours, possibly twelve or more hours, to reach their patients. There is serious brain and other damage by this time. The body looks good but the internal organs are damaged. This is obviously undesirable.

Alcor will pay its members $10,000 to move near its facility. They do this because that is where it is safest, cryonically speaking. They wouldn't do this if they didn't think that it was important. It is difficult for many people to move there. At the very least an emergency response team should be set up where possible. New technology is being sold that gives wireless communication monitoring heart action. It gives a signal when a cardiac arrest occurs. The signal is sent to the people that you designate.

We should give consideration to this problem and do our best to see that we get a good cryonic suspension.
