My dad has vascular dementia and perhaps Alzeihmers. He has never really had any of the risk factors. I have tried many touted things to help him, but he still is getting worse. Some things he has tried: edta, lysine, proline, vitamin c , b vitamins, vitamin d, vitamin k, garlic, Omega, taurine, ginkgo, ashwangha, curcumin, mushroom (forget name) and dark chocolate powder. EPPS is touted as ridding amyloid plaques.

If you look that same group in Korea also got very similar results wrt removing amyloid plaques with a high dose of taurine as they got from EPPS.

Start here:   Taurine in drinking water recovers learning and memory in the adult APP/PS1 mouse model of Alzheimer's disease

My strong suspicion is that once that group found positive results with Taurine, they started looking for similar compounds that they would have a better chance of getting a more usable patent with.  Taurine is widely available as a supplement of course.
