My Life Extension Program

Posted by thughes , 06 February 2008 · 1,511 views

Personal
Not that I'm suggesting this for emulation, being as I'm (a) conservative (b) lazy and © not (yet!) rich enough to afford 1000$ a month in supplements.

My current supplement program

This is for a mid-30s person. Well, 2 mid-30s people, although my husband frequently asks which one is the poison!

Life Extension Mix
- 4 per day, 2 breakfast, 2 dinner.
- My diet is not overly varied. Mild but annoying allergies...

Life Extension Mineral Formula for Women
- 2 per day: 1 before breakfast, 1 before bed
- This equates to roughly 250mg calcium.
- I don't drink milk but I do have yogourt and cheese, daily.
- I avoid taking this directly with meals, I've heard fiber can affect calcium absorption.

Theanine: (suntheanine) 100mg
- 1 to 2 per day, morning and as needed
- This is for stress. I blame cipro!

Lemon Balm: (solaray)
- For stress, and to sleep
- Currently taking 2 per day, 1 morning 1 evening.

D-Mannose: (solaray)
- 2x per day, morning and before bed
- After my last run in with cipro, I shall never have an infection again, if it kills me!

Melatonin: 3mg
- As needed for sleep. Normally 3-4 times per week

Acidophilus Pearls: (Enzymatic therapy)
- One per day, with breakfast

Life Extension Blueberry Extract with Pomegranate and CocoaGold
- One per day, with breakfast
- This is in addition to a small amount of actual dark chocolate daily

Vitamin D3: (Normally Life Extension)
- One per day, with dinner
- Since its winter, 1000IU. With 100IU approximately per LEF Mix and 100IU per Mineral Formula, grand total of 1600IU. I intend to take the 1000IU only in the winter, but I'm planning on getting my summer vitamin D levels tested, just in case.

Life Extension Grapeseed Extract with Resveratol
- One per day, with breakfast
- Anecdotally, I find this helps with various allergies. Could be placebo! Thats ok, its good for me anyways.

Life Extension Super Omega-3
- One per day, with dinner

Planned Changes

These are changes I plan to make this year:

- 100mg resveratol daily, with dinner
- 2x Super Omega 3 with dinner rather than 1x.

I'd like to add something that increases SOD, an AGE inhibitor, and alpha lipoic acid. I'm thinking of LEF's Mitochondrial Energy Optimizer. I may also be re-adding ashwagandha.

I'm also thinking of adding green tea and curcumin, at least on a once every other day basis.

Aren't colors fun?

Colors: nice idea.
Vitamin D: I should be taking some too.
Melatonin: Might not need so much.
Ashwagandha: works well for me.

LEF's Mitochondrial Energy Optimizer is great. Carnitine affected me pretty dramatically at first, in a positive way. It gave me a whole bunch of energy. Another ingredient, carnosine, is supposed to be an AGE-breaker too, in addition to SOD. However, I have no idea if the SODzyme stuff actually does anything... many are skeptical of it.
I'm a bit skeptical of SODZyme myself, but I figure it won't hurt and may help. I've recently read, in Chasing Life by Sanjay Gupta, that a supplement containing Green Tea, Turmeric, Milk Thistle, Ashwagandha, and Bacopa increased SOD and catalase. I'm going to be taking 4 out of 5 of them, so if its possible to increase SOD/catalase I'll hopefully be covered!

Thanks for the info on melatonin!
