Conquering Aging Is the Most Noble of Goals
Aging is a horrible process that causes emotional suffering and physical pain for every person alive. The thought of aging and death leaves us depressed, angry and unmotivated such that we become self destructive and apathetic about global concerns. The most humanitarian endeavor one can pursue is to eliminate this unnecessary suffering that tears the very fabric of our society apart.
You Can Make A Difference!
We can't wait for others to save us. We as a community have to take the reigns and find the solution to aging. Through the study of biology, teamwork and volunteering time, money, personal results and donating computing time to projects like folding@home and other community-driven projects that emerge, we can lengthen our lives dramatically which might leave us in a position to live much longer. The point is you are key, regardless of age, skillset or education. Millions of people making a very small difference will have the net affect of the massive change we need.
Aging Will Be Defeated
It might be 50,000 years, 5,000 years or 50 years but it will happen. If we work our ass off now to make it happen, we might see it in our lifetime. Be an optimist and work hard towards this goal. Life is worth living. More of it can't be a bad thing.
Where We Stand Today
The picture above is a protein that was discovered in 2007, that when mutated leads to longer lived humans. This is the first of it's kind to be found but it illustrates where we are in our endeavor to understand aging. We are just now using the genomic blueprints to understand aging from the DNA end of the spectrum all the way down to disease endpoints. This marks the dawn of a new era where every disease endpoint will eventually be fully mapped from start to finish.
