Scientists have discovered that networks of inhibitory brain cells or neurons develop through a mechanism opposite to the one followed by excitatory networks. Excitatory neurons sculpt and refine maps of the external world throughout development and experience, while inhibitory neurons form maps that become broader with maturation. This discovery adds a new piece to the puzzle of how the brain organizes and processes information. Knowing how the normal brain works is an important step toward understanding the nature of neurological conditions and opens the possibility of finding treatments in the future. The results appear in Nature Neuroscience.
Hello everyone,
according to new researches and results, both networks of excitatory and inhibitory circuits work together (in opposite manner) to form or change broader brain networks and connection between brain regions.
I have a theory which I want to put into a short-term test; that's related to indirectly put brain circuits to optimized plasticity situation.
forming or changing brain networks are the most effective mechanism one would choose to fight with a disorder or unwanted behavior.
What if by taking both excitatory and inhibitory drug, one would change brain networks more easily?
this should be done along with behavior modification or exercising (of course!).
like taking Modafinil + Pregabalin together plus Attention/Working Memory exercise or Mindfulness Meditation to boost/improve attention span.
I want to start testing this idea from this weekend for at least 3 weeks to examine what would be gained.
