Here's a background on me if it's helpful: I am a college student, 130 pounds, 20 years old, and healthy with no diseases that I know of. I do sports, eat very healthily, get enough sleep. I believe throughout my life I have always had a slightly subpar short term memory. I just can't remember many things. I am prepared for tests but always feel like I am not thinking fast enough. After tests, my brain always feels fried. I'm getting all the mental workout as an engineering student but I want to make sure I'm feeding my brain as well. What do you guys think of this regimen?
I am currently taking...
1. Nature Made Fish Oil with (336mg EPA and 276 DHA) - I have taken this for over almost 2 months and I don't think I have noticed any improvement in cognition. Several studies have shown that it's supposed to help with dry skin as well but nothing has changed for in that respect either.
2. since a week ago...Memory Naturally by Holt. M.D. labs ( http://www.naturesbe...m/pf_Memory.cfm )
Here's what's in Memory Naturally:
*N-Acetyl-L-Carnitine HCL 200mg
* Lecithin (a source of phosphatidyl choline (from soybeans)) 100mg
* Alpha GPC (Glycerylphosphorylcholine) 50mg
* Turmeric Root 95% Curcuminoids 50mg
* Green Tea
95% Polyphenols & 60% Catechins 50mg
* Ginko Biloba 24% gonkoflavonglycosides & 6% terpene lactones 50mg
* Phosphatidyl Serine (from soybeans) 30mg
* DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid from tuna fish) Note: DHA Oil Concentrate (>15% DHA) 30mg
* Vinpocetine 10mg
* Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine HCL) 2mg 100%
*Vitamin B1 1.5mg 100%
*Folic Acid 400mcg 100%
*Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin) 6mcg 100%
I am thinking about taking a multivitamin. I've done some surfing and searching through this forum among others and found that the Now Adam multivitamin is highly recommended. It seems like a a good match for my budget. http://www.nowfoods....p;item_id=13687
Later on, I will attempt nootropics starting with Piracetam, but for now I just want to know what you guys think about the Memory Naturally and Now Adman multiV.
also, should I take more Ginkgo Biloba? I'm only getting 50mg; many supplements have 120mg.
Thanks much
