Greetings,
I'm posting for the first time here after lurking & learning for a while, and I am eager to ask your advice about nootropics. I'm hoping to counter some of the effects of recently diagnosed heavy metal toxicity (mercury is especially high), which has taken a heavy toll for the past few years on my cognitive function and mood, along with the usual nasty spectrum of side effects (neurological, endocrine, thyroid, etc.).
I'm quite hopeful that some of the products discussed here, such as Aniracetam and Picamilon, might help with the brain fog, memory loss, and maybe even anxiety and depression. I'm not expecting miracles but would VERY much like to regain some of my former mental clarity…I feel as though I've lost a part of myself.
Here's my basic data:
o Female, small frame (120 lbs.)
o Undergoing repeated rounds of chelation therapy with DMSA and ALA under my physician's care to remove the mercury
o Currently taking fish oil and a wide spectrum of vitamins, minerals and amino acids recommended by my MD
o Currently taking Armour thyroid
o Currently taking Tianeptine (Stablon) for depression, and because I had read that it can help to counter stress-related hippocampal damage - at least in tree shrews, but hey, I figured it was worth a shot
Since my system is already somewhat weakened, I want to be careful to supplement anything that may become depleted by the new products. For example, I've read that it may be wise to supplement some form of choline when taking Aniracetam?
I'll need to stay with inexpensive supplements for now. I was considering the
Phosphatidyl choline/Picamilon/Aniracetam combo available from smi2le.biz to start, along with 5-HTP in the evening to help with mood & sleep. I was also considering Idebenone but read mixed reports on this site.
I'm eager to begin a regime that may help, and you all seem to know so much about this. I would be grateful for any advice you can share.
Many thanks,
Sarah
