Hi

My wife is currently considering taking a selenium supplement (50ug) a day - this was the smallest dose we could find. I have heard from various sources that it is very easy to overdose on selenium and get side effects. As my wife is currently breastfeeding I am wondering if the potential side effects outweigh the potential benefits.

Does anyone have any comments on this?

At doses around 200mg of supplemented Se there are no side effects.
Selenium excess are overestimated and btw are entirely reversible once you shop or lower the dosage.
