I'm curious... you guys know what it is in fish oil that causes beta oxidation of tianeptine? is it the DHA?

Is tianeptine fat soluble? If so, then the fat, such as the fish oil, when metabolised via beta-oxidation might take take the tianeptine with it.

Whats is your source that states that fish oil causes beta-oxidation of tianeptine? This source should be able to tell you or hypothesise on reasons why this may be so.

Or is it just hearsay?

I'm not sure. But if you are not clinically depressed (or are an otherwise healthy subject), I wouldn't assume any of the purported neurogenesis effects could possibly occur.

Let me guess at this one: because all the studies have been in depressed people?
