We had our 32nd seminar this month (April 2008) and probably need some fresh ideas, so I will think about your experience. If you can share what you think are the most important features of your seminar, that would be interesting. In particular, I think that now that we have lots of external speakers available we should encourage the core activist group to present more to keep the hardcore H+ spirit there.
You can read a typical report (this one is about 30th seminar) at http://www.transhuma...t/view/502/104/ (use Google Translate to convert it to English).
Let's be friends.

Greetings from the Moscow seminar on Transhumanism. It was very refreshing and encouraging to read your seminar reports.

Hi, Danila!
Thanks! Our seminars owed much to the Moscow model. You are doing a fantastic job there!
Btw, our next (7th seminar) is on Friday, May 9 (quite symbolic).
Presentations:
Itay. “The virility of consciousness”.
Ziv. “Post-human or human: does the human nature really change?”
(Sergio has to be abroad on May 9 and his presentation "Singularity and how we can advance it" will, hopefully, take place the next time).
So far, all our presentations (and the majority of attendants) have been very “hard core”. I guess people seeking general education, can find in many venues. But there are not many places one can hear about “Radical life extension” or “uploading.” I do believe such seminars are an important and, may one be bold, unique project.
Long live post-national society!

Ziv gave a great presentation “Post-human or human – will the human nature really change?” which gave a colorful review of emergent technologies and their prospective implications for society, such as changes in the workplace, sex life, and life span, but emphasized that these technologies are very likely to be abused, unless coupled to a well developed strategic “humanistic” social vision. Thanks, Ziv!
Ziv’s presentation can be found here:

Then the meeting proceeded informally. Everybody was resolved to become more than a study group, and to involve in the future some sort of activism. It was decided to create our own common website, on the subjects of Life-extension and Transhumanism. And it seems, for the first time, there is a critical mass of people ready and willing to set up the site and contribute materials: original articles, translations, links and graphic designs.
So, if you are willing to contribute such materials for the site,
Or suggest topics for future presentations,
PLEASE LET KNOW
Looking forward

I am delighted to invite you to the 8th meeting / seminar on Transhumanism / Life-extension.
The meeting will take place on Thursday (hamishi), August 21, at 17.00, as usual, in Bar Ilan University, Katz building (also known as Moreshet Israel 604 building, in the "Northern" part of the campus, in the "asbestonim" area), third floor, "Seminars Room" (309).
The meeting will have a special emphasis on aging research, with 2 great presentations:
Noam will present on "Aging genes and caloric restriction"
Ben will present on "Aging and perception.”
A portion of the meeting will be reserved for a general discussion.
You are also welcome to join our discussion group on Life-extension and Transhumanism

I am delighted to report on the 8th seminar on Life-extension and Transhumanism that took place yesterday. It had an excellent attendance and, as always, was animated by a passionate, far-reaching and comprehensive discussion. This was probably the most scientifically inclined meeting so far.
Noam gave a fantastic presentation, making a transition and rationale from evolutionary theories of aging (mutations accumulation, adaptive pleiotropy, disposable soma) to actual research strategies to extend life: modeling the entire genome interactions (a very difficult approach), SENS, or, third, stimulating the most important, highly conserved repair and maintenance genetic mechanisms, such as those activated in conditions of stress (caloric restriction, heat or osmotic stress). Among such anti-aging genes, sirtuins figure prominently.
Ben’s wonderful presentation concentrated on insulin like signaling pathways in life-extension research, such as the modifications of caloric restriction effects by our senses (ultimately by the brain), the life-extending genetic manipulations of insulin-like signaling in animals, IGF and DAF2 in particular.
Many thanks to Noam and Ben for the thorough, learned and inspiring presentations!
And many thanks to all who attended or showed interest: Lior, Tal, Kochi, Itay, Daniel, Idan, Olga, Marina, Maya, Yair, Gili. And special thanks to Kochi for advertising the meeting!
Looking forward to future meetings.
If you would like to present at our future meetings, please let know.

באתר של עכבר-מתושלח, יצאה קריאה להצביע עבור הזרמת תקציב מחקר לפרוייקט למניעת זיקנה:
http://www.mfoundati...?pagename=ufard
כדי לעשות זאת, עליכם להכנס לאתר הזה:
http://www.memberspr...ect/view/BVVE2C
בצד ימין של המסך יהיה לכם לינק:

זה לוקח דקה
ואז ללחוץ
nominate this project.
