yeah good question, I have wondered myself
some early adopters of NR insisted that you should take TMG with your NR as NAD+ precursors potentially put a strain on the methylation system
but no one seems to talk about it anymore. No idea why

I started to have anxiety after taking NR at about 300mg, and experimenting with ~500mg for about a year. Started taking TMG and it immediately went away. So I'm sticking with it.
I think there's is some truth to the idea of NR consuming methyl donors. I also know people who don't report this, so there might be individual variability.

What dose the letters TMG mean ?

I think they should be administered in equimolar amounts. [1] If you look up the Thorne cardiovascular product that has both NMR and betaine, you can approximate the ratio. I did the math on it (somewhere in these forums) and they are equimolar.
1. McCarty MF. (2018). Co-administration of equimolar doses of betaine may alleviate the hepatotoxic risk associated with niacin therapy. - PubMed - NCBI . Ncbi.nlm.nih.gov. Retrieved 23 December 2018, from https://www.ncbi.nlm...pubmed/10985907

How much tmg do you take?
how old are you and what have you noticed from nr? and how did you choose that over nmn?
1000mg
I'm 35. Responded very well with NR, my body now responds likes when I was in my 20s. I also tried NMN sublingual, the result was very similar. So I'm sticking with NR due to cost, and ease of consumption (capsule vs sublingual).

I am one of the people that cannot tolerate high doses of NR. I am able to to take 125 mg of it now, when I take 500 mg of TMG for the methylation issue.

I don't think TMG is dangerous... but it's in so many foods, how could you be deficient in it?

Does anyone know if the question of niagen effecting methylation has been discussed here?
Thanks.

there are other methyl donors available such as methyl folate, methylcobalamin, methionine, and choline.
just an FYI

I take it and I think it helps. I am one of the people that can't take a full dose of NR due to the side effects. One of the reasons may be the methylation effect, and this may help.

Are you saying to take those instead of tmg or in addition to tmg? Thanks
