Hi everyone,

For short periods of time, Nicotine abolishes my brain fog and allows me to be functional.

I'm wondering what's going on (I know i have neuro-inflammation) - and what OTHER (than nicotine) things that I take that will allow me to be functional without having a nicotine addiction.

Any ideas?

I hear some talk about GTS-21 but this doesn't seem that popular among people...

Thanks !

Pure nicotine increases bloodflow to the PFC, which creates higher forms of dopamine stimulus. Many people with ADHD have rates of smoking because they are effectively self-medicating to increase their PFC functioning. Abeit I've contemplated using pure nicotine from a vaporizer to increase my focus it seems really stupid to develop a habit like this to self-medicate. Their are other producitve mechanisms to induce high levels of dopamine. So you could probably use a vaporizer with pure flavored nicotine or use a transdermal patch. Be warned nicotine is one of the most addictive substances in the world. So tread lightly but if you seek self-medication then it could be a viable option.

There must be something else that does this similarly but without the addictive purposes...

IIRC tobacco/nicotine in oral form increases dopamine and other neurotransmitters slightly but when tobacco is burns it acts as an MAOI which is why people have such a tough time quitting smoking when switching to oral tobacco or nicotine.

Unfortunately nicotine even from e-cigrrettes likely converts into a carcinogen in the body.

Nicotine itself is not carcinogenic, but a group of related compounds called tobacco-specific nitrosamines (TSNA) are very potent carcinogenics.

It turns out that when nicotine is inhaled, it likely converts into carcinogenic TSNA in the lungs. This 2018 study found that e-cig smoke damages DNA in mice lungs, and the authors propose that the damage is caused by nicotine transforming into TSNA in the lung tissues (ie, nicotine undergoes nitrosation in the lungs converting it to TSNA).
