Have been trying higher dose NR and NMN lately, and I noticed if i take 300Mg to 500Mg per day my tinnitus symptoms worsen significantly (ringing goes from barely noticeable to very loud can’t sleep level) . I tried it separately with NR for a few days and then NMN, both cases caused a significant worsening of my tinnitus symptoms. So this issue is not specific to NR

Once I reduce my dosage, or stop it entirely my tinnitus goes back to its normal levels after a week or so.

Anyone else experiencing this side effect and would anyone know what could be causing it and how to counter it?

Thanks

My experience is the exact opposite of yours.  I currently barely notice my tinnitus after taking high dose NMN since mid 2015.

Thanks for the response Lawrence, indeed i did read that NMN / NR both should have a positive effect on Tinnitus, which made the whole thing more puzzling for me as i had the opposite effect.

Would love to know if others had a similar experience.

If NR/NMN is supposed to have a positive effect on tinnitus, I've not found that to play out in practice.... No doses, large doses, minimal doses... nothing correlates. Mine simply changes over time/days/hours/months and I can't seem to determine why., It just goes through phases, sometimes better, sometimes worse. None of the 'supposed' helpers help, not that it's debilitating, just annoying.

Does it correlate with your blood pressure? I eat beets whenever BP is high, they knock it down ~15 points.

As Vader says: "You are beeten. It is useless to resist."

Hi mate, no it doesn’t. My blood pressure is fine when I test it. But on high doses def get worsening tinnitus. I’m yet to find the cause or something to Counter it. I did try TMG but that didn’t help.

I’m currently in touch with a doctor who tells me he came across research showing B3 can worsen tinnitus in some cases(yet help in others). I don’t have any reference but taking him on his word (he worked with military and has treated tinnitus patients)

I take around 300 mg per day of NR or MNM.  My tinnitus is louder than before, but it was fluctuating and getting louder prior to starting NR/NMN, so I can't say for sure that's the cause.  Recently I've had a few short spells of complete silence, and that's new.  Tinnitus is a sneaky, annoying, frustrating beast that does whatever it wants to do.

Tinnitus is definitely a very tricky beast, but in my case i was able to replicate the increase multiple times with experimentation (both with high dose NR and NMN)

If you want, you can try stopping NR/NMN for a week or two and see if your tinnitus volume goes down

I've been off them for a few days now, and my tinnitus is definitely quieter.  On one hand I'm happy to have some control over the noise, but on the other hand NR/NMN have improved so many other of my health issues (including, oddly enough, hearing loss resulting from acoustic trauma, which is why I started taking NR) I really hate to quit taking it.  It's a dilemma...

Hi mate, I’m in the exact same dilemma! the benefits I’ve received from NR/NMN are too good to just quit on

What I settled with for now is 150MG NR (sublingual) on most days and 300MG (sublingual) every few days or so. While it still increases my tinnitus it’s only slight and not significant compared to daily doses of 300mg-600MG+

You may also find this dosage helpful in your case

Hi there, Unbelievable. I have been having the exact same issue. So annoying after a week or so on either NMN or NR my tinnitus goes through the roof.

there are 2 things I am trying. No.1 I added TMG. I was told by one of the suppliers that it might help. Well, it did not. 2nd I add GABA for a week or two to see if anything changes.

I also wanted to check in If there is any solution or improvement?

It's very hard to find out what the cause was but mine was really started becoming bad after being on Modafinil. If that's the case then perhaps GABA might help.
