I have a mild tinnitus, with occasional flares. What I was never exactly clear on was what really caused it, why it varied, and what helps minimize the symptoms. By chance, I came upon this excellent TED talk by Josef Rauschecker. He briefly explains the root causes, assembling the puzzling pieces of how deficits in your brain contribute to this condition.
