i was wondering if anyone has had any experience treating neuropsychiatric lyme with piracetam, or other nootropics or supplements.

i just took my first dose of piracetam (relentless improvement brand, reputable?)
1600mg piracetam
250mg choline alfoscerate (by AOR; alpha-GPC, right?)
8mg of galantamine ("galantamind") from the iherb store

an article in a journal put the finger on choline as causing a lot of the neurolyme problems. in my case it is extremely interrupted executive function, fatigue, and constant confusion that is constant but has extreme episodes. i have extreme problems with tasks and focusing, it is almost i am always removed from the world around me and it is off limits. as if i am locked in my own head playing cognitive bumper cars. writing and typing is especially difficult to do to effectively express, so i am sorry if i end up writing things that aren't stuctured or expressed properly.

i was diagnosed with many things as a kid (i am now 22), asperger's, ADHD, major depression, social anxiety disorder, but most don't make any sense or at least provide any answer to any of my real functionning problems.

wondering if anyone has any advice... currently am taking minocycline and magnesium citrate as well.

sorry for the poor structure and clarity.

While I am not familiar with neuropsychiatric lyme, I do have one important suggestion for you: I strongly recommend that you consider supplementing with probiotics for at least the duration of your treatment with minocycline, or you could set yourself up for even more problems down the road. Long courses of antibiotics can lead to an undesirable, persistent shift in your gut flora toward larger numbers of pathogenic species, promoting a cascading effect of deteriorating health.

Relentless Improvement offers one of the highest quality probiotic formulas on the market (Theralac) -- you can find more information here: http://theralac.com/

thank you for the suggestion. i have worried about this as i have already have started to have yeast problems, and have had full oral thrush without antibiotics before. i especially worry as i have extreme carb cravings, and satiating them with white bread and other things makes me exhausted to the point of needing to sleep. i will read up and discuss this when i see the special doctor i am seeing in toronto. thanx :)

i feel as if my first dose of piracetam did nothing that i could detect unless it made me more tired and out of it (i get like that randomly anyway, again especially with food.) i took the 1600mg with a not too overboard amount of bread and lentil curry. i hope that that did not impede the absorbtion. i have now taken a second dose, this time of 2400mg along with the alpha gpc and galantamine. does a response typically take days? response profiles seem to vary and many people have seemingly antithetical experiences. it's confusing. some notice effects on the first dose and some after, but then it wanes considerably... and then many seem to believe that it takes a period of buildup before benefits are experienced. experiences regarding dosage seem similar, with some saying almost that less is more, and even specifically that high doses will have immediate palpable negative effects, and then some saying that you really need a lot to really make this drug work.

Piracetam takes a while to work, give it a couple weeks. I would watch the diet, eat more veggies and cut way back on carbs. Some fish oil every day would be a very good idea.

If I were you with those "land of confusion" symptoms, I would stay far far away from the racetams. Piracetam, even with added choline, makes my ADD even worse, in addition to making me fairly sleepy and slow - it is a sort of GABA, ater all, so should we not expect this? Aniracetam, while it is effective for fewer, definitely seems more "brightening", but if take a little too much, or just let my mental discipline relax somewhat, it too ends up making me fascinated in the slightest little everything that comes along and I feel nearly compelled to switch focus to each new input. But I can tell it is doing nootropic things to me, albeit only if I make sure to be vigilant for the ADD effect kicking in, which I can circumvent with a little effort.

But anyway, I would think they both pose a risk of that for you. I guess sure give it a try for a couple weeks, but if you start to feel more tired, foggy and unfocused, I would just quit it right away instead of trying to battle through those things... doubful there well be some moment of magical clearing that leaves you better than before.

They seem to have this eddect on, oh i dunno, 50% of the people who try them.
