bump
Dude, I check my email at least 10 times a day, and about half of those times I happen to have time to read this forum. If I answered every post I read, I would probably go more psycho than I already am. [ang]
Anyone interested in cognition enhancers should investigate and question the research supporting the use of compounds for which we have strong evidence of their efficacy
in healthy subjects first rather than take the latest snake oil.
That said:
I take 750 mg Aniracetam twice a day; 1 gram American Lecithin 60% GPC twice a day as well -- both with meals.
I don't mess with Piracetam because the mg/kg is way too high...I take Oxiracetam 800mg twice a day though.
I don't mess with idebenone either because it might not be safe and the benefits (even in elderly subjects) are lackluster -- 2% increase? Not worth the risk -- especially considering it's a dietary supplement and the high price.
I take
Bacopin 50% bacoside a/b 600 mg with my breakfast.
(I also take a whole list of other stuff)
I take all of these products mostly because the cost is very low as I sell these products as well as take them. If someone is on a tight budget, I would NOT recommend starting with unproven therapies such as Aniracetam, Piracetam, Oxiracetam, or Alpha GPC, etc. -- UNLESS, possibly, of course, if you happen to be
elderly or demented. Once you have thoroughly investigated the therapies that have been shown
to really work in
healthy folks, if you by chance have some spare cash, let us know and we can recommend some "dietary supplements..."
While there may be some evidence that suggests that these dietary supplement products may be effective in elderly or demented subjects, there is zero solid evidence that the conventionally accepted nootropics would affect memory functions of an individual with a perfectly functioning memory in the same manner. It is theoretically possible, but unproven nonetheless.
On the other hand, we do have
solid evidence from randomized, double blind, placebo controlled trials
in healthy subjects that suggest that prescription-only drugs such as
Provigil AKA modafinil,
Aricept AKA donezepil HCL, and
Ritalin AKA Concerta AKA methylphenidate can improve short and long term memory functions -- once again -- in healthy subjects...
Bacopa has also been researched in healthy subjects: the following two double blind studies suggest benefits for healthy subjects as well:
This and
this tooCross references; where applicable:
http://www.ncbi.nlm....l=pubmed_docsum Adrafinil is not currently illegal or a controlled substance in the USA, so it can be imported without the legal threat imposed from Modafinil -- a schedule IV controlled drug in the USA.
Peace out. I'm off to bed
