Hello everyone, a person I have talked to and played online games with as a squad for a while was diagnosed with Gastric (stomach) cancer maybe over one year ago. He had treatment and was in remission but the cancer has come back and is not operable. I have advised him not to give up, his doctors says he could have anything from 1 - 2 years left... I've just emailed him back now and asked if he would want my help, although he apparently did take my advice before which he says helped.

I know that some of you here know quite a fair bit about supplements and nutrition. so i'm asking for your recommendations, should he take high doses of Fish oil, EGCG max, turmeric etc...?

Could you list a bunch of things that might help him either slow the cancer down or beat it?

I want him to fight this with everything he can, because hes a good man! - I've told him to come to this site to discuss his situation, I hope he does.

Thanks

man, thats rough.

heres what i suggest:

if hes undergoing radiation, definatly start nailing curcumin hard and fast. i read in an extract it somehow exposes cancer to radiation.

cut out meat from his diet right now. and start eating lots of vibrantly colored veggies and lettuce. particularly grapes.

i wouldnt suggest green tea extract, as many varieties have shown to be more harmfull tha good. see my green tea thread for an email address to a cheap hookup for bulk green/white tea. 8 bucks for a pound of GT, 12 for the same in white. i also go into preparation of GT/WT there as well.

fish oil wouldnt hurt, certainly.

CLA would be suggestable as well.

increase the fiber intake couldnt hurt.

if he doesnt already, begin lifting weights and lots of cardio. i would suggest interval cardio every other day. i have a thread up about what i do as well.

if hes serious and dedicated, it should at least buy him time. as sad as it is to say, even if it gets him just another year of life in good health.... its worth doing.

If I had cancer, I'd attack it with a vengeance.

o  IV vitamin C along with green tea extract.
o  Ave: http://www.avemarusa.com/index.html
o  Lactoferrin mega doses (3 grams daily)
o  I-C-3 mega doses
o  Garlic
o  Turmeric
o  Regular green tea
o  Flax seed lignans
o  Tagamet (boosts immune system)
o  Vitamin D mega doses (10,000 i.u. per day)
o  Ginko mega doses

I have saved literature showing that all of these, and a lot more, have strong anti-cancer benefits.  In fact -- and I'm no doctor -- I knew someone who had serious cancer on her wrist and hip (the size of a golf ball in both places), and the doctor told her she was in serious danger, maybe less than a year to live.  She knew I was into supplements and asked for a list, and I sent her all of the above, plus more.  I also told her to go on carb restricted diet (no simple carbs at all, only raw vegetable carbs -- cancer has a serious sweet tooth and simple sugars feed it like gas feeds a fire), and no dairy (casein feeds cancer, too).

She also got radiation treatment and chemo, but she followed my program to the letter.  Her doctor was shocked, she said, at how quickly the cancer shrunk away.  The only part of the treatment she didn't follow was the IV (couldn't find a doctor who'd do it in her area), but she mega-dosed on acid-free vit. C powder, per my instructions.  Her doctor told her it was a miracle.  I told her it was only a miracle because when it comes to the truth, modern medicine is blind in one eye, and can't see out the other.

True story, happened less than a year ago.

And, all the while, I also tried to get my dying grandfather on similar treatment, but his oncologist told him it was all hogwash (which my grandfather thus believed), and he had my grandfather eating cheap grocery store nutritional shakes made of high fructose corn syrup and casein caseinate -- exactly what cancer desires to fuel its growth!!!!  He lived less than two months.  Meanwhile his oncologist tours the USA teaching younger doctors how to take care of your parents, kids, co-workers and friends.  Makes you feel good all over, I bet.

I would go with DIM instead of I3C, and Curcumin over Turmeric (take black pepper with it).

curcumin is not the only beneficial substance in tumeric. its better to take a full spectrum extract... maybe even combining a curcimin complex(specficially sabinsas c3 complex) with a full spectrum extract.

either slow the cancer down or beat it?

Hey Matt, I'm also having someone in the family with prostate cancer and did research for quite a while on cancer inhibitors. With all the above suggestions, the following two should be on top of your list.
I STRONGLY recommend buying Beta 1-3 D Glucan and Pau D'Arco tea. They are both direct cancer inhibitors and induce apoptosis of the cancer cells.

They must be taken in copious amounts.

More:
Intravenous Vitamin C as what duke had suggested before
Chlorella vulgaris 10-15g/day

I've found

http://scholar.googl... gastric cancer and:

Activation of PPARgamma inhibits cell growth and induces apoptosis in human gastric cancer cells.

Takahashi N, Okumura T, Motomura W, Fujimoto Y, Kawabata I, Kohgo Y.

Third Department of Internal Medicine, Asahikawa Medical College, Japan.

We investigated the expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARgamma) and the role of PPARgamma in cell growth in human gastric cancer cells. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, Northern blot and Western blot analyses showed that a human gastric cancer cell line, MKN45, expressed PPARgamma mRNA and protein. Luciferase assay in MKN45 cells showed that troglitazone, a selective ligand for PPARgamma, transactivated the transcription of a peroxisome proliferator response element-driven promoter. Troglitazone or pioglitazone, selective ligands for PPARgamma, inhibited the growth of MKN45 cells in a dose-dependent manner. Co-incubation of MKN45 cells with troglitazone induced DNA ladder formation. These results suggest that human gastric cancer cells express PPARgamma and that activation of PPARgamma inhibits cell growth and induces apoptosis in gastric cancer cells.

Essiac and Ojibway tea do not seem to have effect in reducing tumor size and cancer cell count, especially to recurring cases, according to cancer patients from various forums I have scoured.
The same thing with Maitake and Cat's claw.

Read Cancer: Nutrition and Survival. Hickey and Roberts report that the IV effect of vitamin C is enhanced with r-lipoic acid and vitamin K.

OR take sabinsa's c3 complex (which is what I take!) with some Turmeric! Cheap and easy.
