Apparently, scientists say no:

https://www.ncbi.nlm...les/PMC3950413/

But probably scientists haven't tested *all* the methods used to (let's imagine) increase your IQ: What about learning to use both sides of your brain with learning guitar with the left hand (for a right-handed person)? What about increasing the number of your social relationship? What about changing job to put yourself in a challenging situation?  etc...

True, only neurons in the brain center of memory can be renewed: it's different from the muscle for example where you can increase your muscle mass and then your power. So there's no scientific theory which could allow your own IQ to increase.

What's your opinion on this?

It has been shown that half of all scientific studies can't be replicated so I now take everything with a grain of salt.

That paper isn't even a study, it is an opinion piece with references to papers that support the author's position.  I highly suspect you can professionals in the field with the opposite opinion that can also cite papers that support their position.

So a paper of that nature doesn't sway me much one way or the other.  What would be interesting would be a debate between knowledgeable people on each side of the issue.

Yes 5-10 points.  And it takes some level of consistency, lifestyle changes.  And some caution helps too, the way this lot thinks.

I think there have been studies on identical twins separated at birth that show there is a little bit of 'wiggle-room', and that lifestyle, especially during formative years can either increase or decrease IQ.  But it's not a huge amount, something like +- 4 points.  But I suppose an 8 point swing could have a huge affect on someone's future.

Avoid getting to much muscles (bodybuilding) because I think maybe it will decrease blood flow to your brain and more to the muscles. Unless your body creates more blood. So keep iron levels healthy.

Chinese people are smart because they are atheists and well balanced values  (with everything in life) and a lot have access to internet. thats why china is successful. and strict laws. so I would say all these things for IQ points. Even thought it might not seem good it works to some extent keeps order. https://old.reddit.c...stroy_vitamins/

And one other way is to use drugs that increase pain, fear, decrease neurogenesis and so on on a person, for x amount of time, this will make the person stronger, make him study and do things and it will be very difficult, then get him off the drugs and get him healthy, and he will become very smart.

genetic research shows genetic variations linked to higher IQ more common in asians.   It might not be politically correct, but most of the time when you're naturally taller or faster, it is biological and not a result of anything special you did(aside from avoiding malnutrition.)

Jewish and turkish people are the smartest people i've meet. Turkish are highly mixed with north asians and i believe those mutations(body deemed beneficial)  carried on to the current turks even though their appearance is more caucasian. And maybe azerbaijans

Your IQ will change as a function of age. It will change depending on the time of day, what you ate, if you're unwell. The variability of IQ within a race is far more relevant than the small mean differences between races. Race will have little predictive value, and is a dangerous topic for laymen.

Practising IQ tests also increases your performance on IQ tests.

IQ can definitely be modulated by supplementation, diet. This is a large and well measured field for staving off mental disability in the elderly. Can you increase IQ beyond your theoretical peak with diet and supplementation? I'd say probably! This is one of the challenging areas to fund research because of the risk of interventions on developing children as well as not actually treating a disease.

USA imports a lot of smart people all over the world especially asian countries higher population more likely to have smart people to work on stuff. I think we have to differentiate  between IQ and brain functionality/effectiveness. You can have the most powerful brain the world but still have a low IQ. Biologically you brain can be perfect but it won't increase your IQ if you don't know how to use your mind/counciousness. etc.Sure it helps.
