This new study by Irina Conboy supports the idea that the rejuvenation effect of the parabiosis experiments is caused by dilution. The treatment is already in medical use for other purposes and appears safe and has low side effects.

Seems to suggest that the same result could be achieved by blood donation or bloodletting does it not? Basically we just need to periodically get rid of the bad actors in our old blood?

I haven't noticed any rejuvenation from blood donation but maybe I would be even more old and haggard if I didn't do it. Or maybe blood donation just doesn't take out enough plasma. These experiments were replacing half the plasma.

What about plasma donation?  In the paper, they were replacing the donated plasma with proteins and saline.  Do they do that in regular plasma donations?
