Has anyone has stomach irritation after taking resveratrol on an empty stomach?

I've been fasting for 12 - 14 hours overnight, then taking resveratrol with a little yoghurt.  I went from 200mg to 800mg overnight and seem to have had nausea and cramps quite a few times in the last week.  Don't want to change the dose or regime unless it's likely to be that.  I've not felt ill otherwise.

Anyone else had this?

I know I can stop the resveratrol and see if it all calms down (which it did) but it's all time and guesswork, so just wondering on other's experiences.  Perhaps I just need to take the resveratrol later with a meal.

Why are you taking it to begin with?

Are you talking about specifically the actual stomach or just irritation around the abdomen area (where small intestine, big intestine is etc)?

I'm doing 12 - 14 hour fasting and started taking resveratrol in the hope of some longer term health benefits, delay of ageing processes, etc.

I've only noticed this since taking it on an empty stomach, but just not sure if it's that.  I can experiment with it but just wondered if anyone else been through this sort of thing already

If I don't hurry up and eat soon after taking it, I notice a bit of nausea, but not bad.  After a day or two I start getting intestinal cramping, so I'm guessing it's irritating all the way down, but have only noticed this since taking it after a 12 - 14 hour fast.  So thinking it may irritate the whole system if not mixed with much food.

I guess I just need to experiment with it and note down the protocol and any problems.  I was just wondering if it was a known thing on empty stomach as would save me the work, lol.

Resveratrol is a fad supplement that is sold with wild extrapolations from sketchy assumptions that it underlies the benefits of red wine -- if a little bit is good, then a thousand times as much must be better! True, it can confer longer life to species such as yeast, nematodes and fruit flies, but when you get to higher species, the evidence of benefit is marginal. Some say it operates by increasing oxidized to reduced NAD, which then increases the expression of sirtuins (which are known to be involved in longevity) but just taking nicotinamide with ribose will do that more efficiently.

Thanks for replying  :-)  Nicotinamide with ribose?  Instead of NR or NMN?

I've come back here as I just started the resveratrol 2 days ago, and the stomach issues are back.  So I think it's the dosage as I haven't taken on an empty stomach.  I am fine with 200mg, but going up to even 600mg doesn't seem to work.  I can't think of anything else that's irritating my stomach and it seems to be back since re-starting the resveratrol at a higher dose.  I will lower to 200 mg, make sure the problem goes.  If it does will raise to 400 mg and see if I can keep to that amount.

I hear what you are saying though.  I'm just not organised to start anything else as yet.  I have NMN in the fridge in a bag.  I should get started on it.

My reason for delaying is the possible (theoretical) link with cancer.  I had a benign lesion in my breast ten years ago, I just wonder whether I should take NAD boosters...
