Does anybody know anything about zeta inhibitory peptide (ZIP)? It has been shown to erase (not just attenuate) some forms of long term memory in rats as well as cockroaches. In theory, it could be used to erase long term memories in humans.

It is given to the rats via hippocampal infusion (injection with a needle) so I'm not sure what would be the best ROA for a human being, or if you could even get results by other ROA. Obviously injecting into the brain isn't viable for humans. It seems to be available for purchase at Tocris Bioscience and Isca Biochemicals.

As someone with PTSD, there are a long string of memories I would love to delete from my brain. I am sure there are others who feel similarly.

Is this compound likely to be safe for human use? I haven't been able to find much discussion of it outside of scientific papers, which is strange to me given that the results seem to be so dramatic. Some of the studies are from 2015 as well, so there's been plenty of time for it to make its way into the world of biohackers. The lack of discussion makes me wonder whether it is unsafe or straight up ineffective.

I guess this post is just to gather general information. Wondering if anyone else here has considered trying this or knows what would happen if a person took it. I do not have a science background, just seeking relief for my PTSD.

It would change my life if I were able to forget even some of the traumatic memories. I'm hoping someone with a more in depth scientific background can enlighten me here. Maybe there are other substances that erase memory too, that I'm unaware of? I know about HDAC inhibitors, but those don't seem to remove negative long term memory, only the fear associated with it (correct me if I'm wrong though).

Hope this is the correct place to post this message.
