possibly a stupid question, what are the longevity or health benefits of aspirin?

Well, I keep hearing about this, but does it even do anything?  I read somewhere mature people should take a small aspirin a day to lessen cardiac risk.

 

Then they said it makes no difference.

The science is muddled, but I still take it once in a while for the potential cardiac benefits and thins the blood. It is a natural substance and if you don't get intestinal bleeding from it, then there is hardly any downside risk.
