Can you take zinc at the same time as copper?

The Mayo Clinic says no:

"Do not take zinc supplements and copper, iron, or phosphorus supplements at the same time. It is best to space doses of these products 2 hours apart, to get the full benefit from each dietary supplement."

Yet Jarrow sell a product called Zinc Balance that has zinc and copper in one capsule - as do a couple of other supplement companies.

So which is it?

"...to get the full benefit..."

Of course you can take them at the same time, since they occur in food at the same time.

But, if you want to get the most absorption, and the most for your money, you would take them at different times.

If you take them at the same time, and you aren't absorbing enough, you can take more.

Personally, I don't go to much trouble in these matters. If it's easy enough to take them at different times, I might. Like I take Tocotrienols at different time from Gamma E. And, I try to take amino acids, like Glycine, Proline, and Lysine, away from other amino acids and protein containing meals.

I actually don't take minerals at different times because I think it's more important to take them spread out in divided doses, with food, and balance them.

Thanks for your reply.

If what you say is correct, then it would be a waste of money to buy Jarrow Zinc Balance, if you want to get the most out of zinc and copper. I wonder why Jarrow have that formula, given what you say?

I appreciate your thoughtful consideration! The formulation of supplements can vary based on different factors, including individual health needs and preferences. Jarrow's Zinc Balance formula might cater to specific requirements or preferences in the market.
