This is a tough one because almost everything we use is made out of plastic. Microplastics can come from anything made of plastic and the food and water supply is completely contaminated.

Most microplastic pollution comes from textiles, tires and city dust [57] which account for over 80% of all microplastic in the environment.[13]
I'm approaching it from the practical side. All main sources can be easily reduced. No electrical vehicles for me (except bikes).

We still have to use a lot of products that require plastic bags and bags, which is why the earth is becoming more and more polluted. Even though I tried paper bags, it still wasn't really effective

We continue to use many things that require plastic bags and bags, which is why the world is becoming increasingly contaminated. dordle

Just another story about how microplastics are everywhere.
When confronted with scary stories like this, I try to take the long view. Plastics have been around for over a century, yet human lifespan has increased dramatically during that time, so the microplastics are not super deadly. Our bodies must have an effective way of dealing with them.
However, the level of microplastics in the environment is increasing, so it might be more of a concern going forward.

How do you know that the body must have built in measures to deal with micro plastics. Ha, I myself are only capable of making general inquiries with lack of any real scientific education or knowledge.
I have heard the position that humans beings are good at seeing patterns that are false and bad at seeing patterns that are valid.
I dont remember an detailed reasoning offered to me why, besides I guess we rely too much on gut based, over reaching conclusions vs concise bottom up deep level investigations. Not sure I am capable of such a feet at all myself.
Lung cancer, breast and prostate cancer numbers all shot up in line with multiple possibilities environmental preturbators, perhaps vaccine use, increase tobacco use, nuclear fallout, general air pollution but also the widespread introduction of plastic and Teflonat same time.
Perhaps microplastics, if it be true can be smaller enough at nano level to be absorbed by lungs could contribute to lung cancer numbers. BPA in plastics was thought to be an Endocrine/hormone disruptor to serve to explain rises in breast cancer alone if not also prostate cancer.
I found questforlife's theory of aging as very intriguing and seems to be a practical tool to be a healthier individual. Since his theory would cover larger, less effcient cells be poorer at dispelling cellular waste. Even perhaps microplastics, though I wouldn't know if even small cells can expell chemicla invasion such as plastics or not.
Also alzhimers showed low rates up till the invention of plastic and I suppose these other environmentals of pollution, vaccines, longer life, there is also the theory of disgenics. That theory is proposed ro have starting in upper classes of western world in the 19th century. But it would have compounding issues wirh each generation , in basic terms: just more unhealthy generations. A Forbes article covered how Darwin's cousin did an experiment on reaction times measure at micronseconds because to prove more sophisticated persons of class had more acute senses, thus would have faster reaction times, true I bet. But a couple researchers replicated the experiment and found several microseconds slower reaction times in modern coherts, which could be representative of lower mental/phsycial prowess compared to past generations. But Forbes mocked the study by saying if you chew gum and take test you will get slower reaction time. This may diffuse the seriousness or attempt to raise weak bias of results. The function of those in powers to maintain our confidence in the establishment I would figure is Forbes writer's motive.
The alzhimers theory that I am standing behind at the moment is that older and larger neurons fail at waste removal and causes dying which reaches a tipping point by extracellular waste buildup and mote waste uptake in the progression of disease. Microplastics may contribute to this process of this newer theory.
