Am I missing anything obvious here? I'm going for value and well researched supplements.

I'm a male 30 years old, 5'10 150 lbs 8% bf. Good cardiovascular conditioning. Lift weights 3x per week. I'm looking to
optimize my health without breaking the bank.

I have mild sleep apnea that I believe affects my quality of sleep. I've gone to a sleep clinic but the diagnosis was my
sleep apnea wasn't severe enough to treat. I just bought some 5-htp that I hope will help.

I've also ordered some ALA to complement my ALCAR (I've been doing a bit of reading here).

BAC = Beyond A Century

Life Force Multiple 4x per day
Fish oil 1 tablespoon per day
Ginger root extract 2g with every meal
Garlic extract 500mg with every meal
BAC 95% Green tea extract 137mg EGCG per serving 4x per day
BAC Herbal Antioxidant mix 2x per day
BAC ALCAR 500mg 3x per day
Magesium (Citrate) 300mg
just ordered 5-htp (hoping it will help my sleep apnea)
just ordered BAC ALA (to complement my ALCAR)

Also:
Eat 6 smallish meals a day
Eat 1 cup of organic blueberries a day.
I eat 6 serving of veggies
Lots of whole grains
Eat lean protein with every meal

Do a search on 5-htp or tryptophan, I believe there are issues with 5-htp. If I remember correctly, some people said that it can damage your heart by converting to seratonin in your liver instead of in your brain.

Thanks for the heads up!

Actually I don't think people should use either tryptophan or 5 htp because of the possibility of toxicity from tryptophan. Without enough vitamin b6 the tryptophan does not get converted into serotonin and does produce these metabolic waste products that have some toxicity for you brain. If naicin levels are not sufficient then a NAD deficiency can cause some other problems with brain chemistry.

If you do use them make sure you are taking enough vitamin b6 and niacin.

Its helpful when making a claim like this that runs contrary to common belief to reference some supporting evidence.

Make sure the fish oil is pure of toxins and from a good source. Magnesium taurate and magnesium orotate are better forms, but citrate should be fine. Tryptophan is better. Garlic, ginger, and fish oil all thin blood so be careful.

there is no toxicity from tryptophan, other than poorly made tryptophan.

mag citrate is poorly absorbed... use glycinate

thats too much green tea extract... learn to enjoy a good cup of sencha, nothing beats it.

life for twice a day is more than enough, 4x is overkill (unless your taking capsules, because the dosing is different)

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm definately buying a new mag next time. I'll research the glycinate as well as taurate and orotate.

I'm taking that much green tea because a lot of the research uses that quantity (10-12 cups of green tea). By too much do you mean
waste of money or is there some danger?

Yeah, they are tablets (higher dosage than capsules). I'm taking 4x day mostly for the water soluble vitamins to be at a constant level in the my system. What vitamin
or mineral are you concerned about overdosing? The bottle recommends 2-4 tablet per day.

The fish oil is Carlson's brand which I trust.

as in that is too much in extract form? I take in about that much in my 4 cups of powdered sencha every day. Any information would be helpful.

a 95% catechin extract is not the same as drinking green tea... as obviously green tea is not 95% catechins... youre missing out on the rest of the stuff nature put into green tea. natures has a funny little system of checks and balances, and often when you isolate and megadose certain chemicals... problems ensue. its not that i have any specific info against it, thats just a general rule i try to follow.

try a full spectrum extract gaia herbs

Agreed, ajnast4r. Just making sure I wasnt missing something.

1g of powdered sencha has about 150mg of EGCG, 3x that of matcha, so it can be used quite efficiently as an alternative to the extract or in combination.

New Chapter is a great source for plant/herb/fruit extracts because they use the whole fruit, rather than isolate or standardize to specific molecules.

I just started using their new LycoPom, and I've been using several others they make for years.

While here, I also just added this to my program:

Punicic Acid is coming on strong as one of the super stars for the arterial system.
