http://www.transhuma...istinfo/batrans is the new mailing list for Bay Area Transhumanists. I will delete the yahoo group as soon as I'm sure that everyone is on the new list...

Japantown's a very nice area, but the name misleads everyone. They only call it Japantown because there's a movie theater named "Kabuki" there -- there aren't that many Asian people around there. If you want Asians, go to the Sunset.

And Bruce: keep your studio's rent a secret. Everyone will laugh at you. =(

Why has this been moved to the off-topic lounge?

You have a beautiful wife, Bruce. I understand you just moved to SF...it sounds like now is a good time to upgrade the security and get a powerful alarm system in your house. I really don't like weapons, but after reading what happened here http://www.imminst.o...&f=1&t=12328&s= it sounds like a good time to get a gun. That is absolutely horrifying. It seems that kind of stuff is happening more and more these days...and to people we know.

This reflects an irrational risk assessment, driven by the media in search of ratings through exploiting people's anxieties. Violent assaults in the U.S. have declined significantly in the past 30+ years, according to statistics collected by the US Department of Justice:

It's irrelevant to whom or where this type of harassment occurs -- the problem is that it is happening and sometimes it goes on without ever being reported. You want to do everything you can to protect yourself and your loved ones.

I did that. What if I just want to go to the meeting? Can you tell us the place and time and we just show up?

By the way, Michael... if you think it to be more geographically suitable, I'll be happy to open this SF studio (500sf) for small gatherings. I can sit 10 people with relative comfort. 14 would be the max.

I hope to find someone with an actual house. Thanks for offering, though.

I should be in my San Francisco tomorrow, Sunday. My plane is scheduled to land around 6:30 pm. I have an interviews Monday and will take the Red Eye back home late that night.

I'd love to meet up with other life extension enthusiasts.
