Hello,

Has anyone taken Hydergine or a supplement that contains it? I was just wondering what anyone's take on this drug would be (safe, dangerous or does not work).

Thank you,

Ashley

Hydergine is not a supplement. It's a prescription drug...at least in the USA.

At the risk of copping out, run a search through these threads as Hydergine has been covered in some detail. There doesn't seem to be a lot of evidence of it being harmful or "ineffective" but that depends on what "effect" you want. From what I have read here and subsequent research links the positive effects are quite subtle but may be useful for longer term cognitive enhancement and "brain repair".

Some experiences point to a drop in blood pressure and/or light headedness but this was not very common. My personal experience after 2-3 months of daily use at 4.5mg per day was that I didn't see any improvements (at time of use or in retrospect) in memory, mental energy or speed of thought processing so I stopped taking it. Others might have more positive or negative experiences they can chip in with.

at 4.5mg daily i noticed an increased in mood and mental clarity in 2 days. My blood pressure was 110/50 yesterday though so it does cause hypotension in me. The mood increase was more noticeable towards the beginning, however i still feel it and like this nootropic. I recommend it and give it a 8/10. It is not a good nootropic to take on its own and expect amazing results but it does work and is good to add to a stack.

I had a red face and headache with only 1.5 mg. This stuff is way to strong for me!

It's not too strong for you, it's just isn't for you ;) As it isn't for me. What you got is hypotension, hydergine lowers blood pressure (therefore red face and "hypotension headache"). You'll go better with vasoconstrictors like coffe, etc..

I too had a bad reaction to 1.25 MG daily of hydergine. My Blood Pressure was ok{i have a monitor and took it throughout the experience}, But I felt Like someone turned up the gravity and I felt sick for two days after.Weak and lethargic. This is the second time I`ve tried it.Just this Last time with my usual 2 drops{mg} of deprenyl and 250mg of phynelalinine plus 600 mg of Nac,which I have been taking for weeks.
The time before was with 1500 aniracetam and 150-300 mg of AGPC. THAT time it was after building up to 4.5 mg daily over a week. I considered the hospital that time .Lasted about 18 hrs. SCARY sick. Could barely get up. BP was good then too. I took it throughout.I then tried only the hyder for a couple days{2.25 mg},still felt very bad. I may be allergic.
I just cant take the stuff. even in tiny amounts.
Paul

You can have symptomes of low BP even if your BP is in normal range.

Ok I couldnt find any info stating one can get symptoms of low BP without BP being low.
However, The range for low blood pressure does vary a bit according to different schools of thought.
Also, one can have no symptoms with low BP.Perhaps I am one of those ,but the hydergine brings on these symptoms.
My BP is normally around 115/60, which is low end, especially for 51 years old. I do work out, but not much cardio. While taking the hydergine I remember my BP once going down to 90/55.I just figured that wasnt that big a difference from my normal,so it wasnt a problem. Perhaps the lower one`s BP is to begin with, the less it has to drop for symptoms to occur.
I also got one episode of getting up out of bed and almost passing out.But not from Hydergine, from inositol/choline mix.
What threw me the most was that Often when feeling my worst, my BP was often around 120/65-70. I must have taken it 40 times in 18 hrs.

So all I know is I cant take the stuff, and I will watch out for things that lower BP.
And then there is blood sugar.......
Geez. Paul
