Hello everyone.

I'm Jacopo, founder of The Rescue Ledger, a project built around a simple question:

If a future civilisation ever discovered how to rescue someone after death, how would they know who wanted to be rescued?
That's what we're trying to address. Think of it as a reverse DNR, addressed far, far into the future.
The idea is to preserve someone's wish to be rescued, alongside the personal information needed to identify them. These records will be stored on piqlFilm, a specialised physical archival data medium, and deposited in a secure facility in the Arctic.

We're launching on Kickstarter on November 10.

Now, let me address the obvious question: You're only preserving data. How is anyone supposed to bring someone back without any remnants of their body?

Given our current understanding, cryonics seems the most plausible approach. The Rescue Ledger, however, doesn't preserve any biological material. Just consent and identifying information.
So how's that supposed to work?
The answer is that we simply don't know what we don't know.
What a future civilisation might understand and achieve could involve discoveries, concepts and possibilities we currently lack the ability even to imagine.

If you told someone centuries ago that we could send messages instantly across the planet, what would they imagine? An incredibly fast homing pigeon? They would be missing centuries of discoveries needed to put everything into context. Of course, that doesn't this will lead to anything. But it means our current understanding doesn't necessarily establish what future civilisations might achieve.

That's why this was born. I have nothing but respect for Cryonics and I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it is to run such a complex operation. But I believe we should also look at different  avenues to get to our end-goal.

Curious to hear what this community thinks. The response so far has been extremely polarising, as you can imagine!
