Reading this article really was a breath of fresh air as nearly everything I've read is pretty anti-meat. So much so that I wonder if animal rights activists might be doing the research and not noticing some bias. I'd even contemplated switching to just whey and casein for my amino acid needs!

This identifies a lot of the great components, not to mention the ones losed in cooking meat. Also, while it doesn't touch upon it, I've read about associated endrocrinological changes from increased amounts of saturated fat/cholesterol in the diet which might be beneficial as well. Of course, with increased LDL in the blood you do require a perfect antioxidant profile so that's certainly something to take care of beforehand, probably with a lot of fibrous vegetables.
