But remember, this isn't jsut about computing and price. These laptops have very specific requirements. They need to be rugged (the idea is they are being used in very poor regions of africa. Lots of dirt etc. Plus they are often used outside, so they are designed with a screen which has an 'inside' setting and an 'outside' setting, to offset glare so the screen is always viewable.
They are also majorly stripped down with regards to the software so they actually perform very quickly. They need to have a tiny power consumption so that the wind-up aspect works efficiently enough.
I do remember seeing a story recently though that they had a problem with the kids constantly using the computers for porn. Typical LOL.
