http://www.sensics.com/

They are pretty effective immersive displays, that run for tens of thousands of dollars.

How much can we expect the price to drop over the next 10 years

...so that it can come with my Playstation 4?

These are the graphics we have today. Seriously in 10 years imagine how these two technologies are going to collide into fully immersive VR gaming.

And they think WoW is addictive... hah.

Ta hell with games! Imagine the science a biochemical engineer could do working at the molecular and femptosecond level in a 3D virtual world of proteins and enzymes.

Considering that a new console comes out every 5 years, the projected price drop will be in place for the PS5, and considering how large the leap is from the PS2 to the PS3, the leap from 3 to 4 and then 4 to 5 might very well include such technology, or even surpass them.

Yeah, good point. Calculating the physics behind the graphics may take another decade though. I posted this in another thread but check out the graphics behind IRT...

Amazing

maestro,

I definitely agree with you. Games are such stupid inventions, but the potential of these virtual realities in science and engineering will be enormous, and even education people much more efficiently.

We could also understand metabolism, the brain, and the environment by putting all the information into a computer and allowing us to grasp the whole picture.

Probably not stupid, most research has proven games to be valuable (in moderation) in honing vital skills. Irrelevant? Probably yes. But at least they act as a driver for technological advancement. Shame they also drive up obesity levels....

Entertainment isn't stupid.

too much testosterone from my fanatical fitness regimen and probably metformin leaves me with the sex drive of a 16 year old. [:o]

which can oftentimes become problematic when you're 28.
