I am strongly thinking about reading biotechnology in collage next fall, but I'd would like to at least
know some basics before I decide to. To be able to better judge whether I want to devote some four years
of education in this particular field.

I find it interesting, of course, and would like to know more about it even if I decide to start another education.
But I'm only looking for some kind of introduction, Molecular Biology of the Cell seems to be far too in depth for me,
however I still want something that can give me a fairly good insight of the subject.

Any suggestions?

Here's a fairly basic intro. It has a chapter on aging [thumb]

There's also an HTML Version

Try the "essentials", a scaled-down version of the book you cite.
