Ran across some pomegranate juice from Old Orchard in the main juice isle at the grocery recently. Same spot as apple/grape/cranberry/Ocean Spray mainstream stuff. Quite cheap.

The best tasting stuff is Naked pomegranate juice - in the health food store for about $12 or at costco for $8. I take an extract though because I don't want all that sugar.

The stuff does taste like Nature's Kool Aid though. It could put Kool Aid out of business if it was price competitive and had good marketing.

I just got the Now! Pomegranate P40p. It says that this contains 40% punicosides. The LEF capsules contain 30% punicalgins.

Are these the same thing? How can I compare their effects if they are not?

On the Now! packaging it says to use 1/6 scoop (50mg) once or twice daily. This would only give 100mg if taken twice daily, so 40mg of said punicosides.

I have been taking 1/2 scoop, so getting 60mg of punicosides. The LEF capsule would contain 180mg of punicalgins. So, to extend my question, how does 150mg of punicosides compare to 180mg of punicalgins?

You must be talking about BAC right? I don't know of Now selling uncapped P40p.

I am taking Now! brand Pomeratrol, an interesting low-dose product I can reasonably afford.

How is the antioxidant value of pomegrante juice affected by pasteurization and then concentration, processes which many pomegrante juice producers perform. Does anyone know of non-pasteurized pomegrante juice which is not from concentrate and if possible, organic? Is pasteurization absolutely essential in the case of a juice extremely high in sugar to eliminate bacteria and other unwanted pathogens?

Me 4, although I'm trying to find something a little more potent pomegranate-wise.

I used to take Pomeratrol for a good while but switched to CountryLife Resveratrol + Jarrows 400mg Pommegrenade product plus consider phasing out the Jarrows one and replace it with the LEF one i posted above.

I drink Odwalla's PomaGrand juice. Before that came out, I drank POMwonderful's pomegranate juice, and especially liked the pomegranate-blueberry blend since it was a better balance of sweetness and tartness. Ironically, I discovered pomegranate juice because that was the only thing in the store containing blueberry juice.

There are various flavors of PomaGrand, and I prefer to pure variety, but all of them also have extracts of healthy berries added to the otherwise 100% pure juice, so it's got all kinds of anti-oxidants. I've also found that further fortifying it with Samboza's powdered açai improves the taste. (Personally I like pomegranate but I love açai, taste-wise.)

I think tried Naked Juice's pomegranate-açai blend, before I discovered that their Purple Machine tastes so good and has so much good stuff that I always choose it over anything else when it's available. I don't remember how it compares to the other two brands I mentioned.

These are fresh refrigerated juices, so they may not be available even everywhere in the U.S. Odwalla is located in northern California, where I live, and last century it used to have very limited distribution, but in recent years I've seen it on the East Coast. I guess being bought by Coca Cola helped them scale up.

I think I tried a non-refrigerated juice from Trader Joe's once and didn't like the taste as much. Also, I find the blends tastier, since pomegranate is so tart.

Pomegranate juice is one of those things, like green tea and açai and maybe blueberries (but unlike red wine), that I enjoy consuming so much I would feel silly taking it in a capsule. I hope I'm getting enough of it in my diet by forgoing the supplement forms of my favorites -- that it's not one of those "1 pill = 20 bottles of red wine" situations. (Then again, they're also included in some of the combination supplements I take.)

Pomegranate Juice is by far the tastiest juice in my book. I mix about 400ml in my post workout drink with whey protein and a Metformin tablet. It’s the only time of day I can afford to take so much simple sugar.

Still the fructose content is not ideal, if it was not for the superior anti oxidants I would go for red grape juice instead.
