This morning I had an order arrive containing my new supplements (B complex, multivitamin, fish oil, creatine etc). After taking all of these I was fine. About 10 minutes later I took a single 500mcg B12 tablet. It seems like the second I took the B12, I felt instantly sick and had to run to the toilet to vomit.

Is this a fairly normal effect of too much B12?

I doubt it was the B12. Did your urine appear bright yellow later on?

I have had large doses of B12 before and had stomach upset from it, so i'm fairly certain it was the B12. As to my urine, it doesn't seem different from normal in any way at all.

Perhaps there was something else in the B12 gel cap? B12 is critical for things like nerve regrowth and dna repair. I don't think its possible to be allergic to it.

It wasn't a gel cap either, it was a tablet.

If so, then this is false advertising:

Thoughts?

I never heard of B12 overdose, specially not a single dose of 0.5 mg. There are supplements with as much as 5 mg (5000 mcg) of Vit B12. I think it could have been some of the excepients in the tablet that you are allergic to.

If so I would expect to have the same reaction to other tablets from the same manufacturer - Holland and Barretts produce a lot of other products with the same base in the tablets.

If I was guessing, I would suspect the B12 least of the list you took. I'd suspect the fish oil or b-complex was responsible. Low quality fish oil can make me wretch, but I have absolutely no problems with mixing 1 Tbs (16gms) of Carleson's Cod liver oil or Premium fish oil (depends on season re:D3 content) in with my morning smoothie. I do it every morning. Tastes good.

Department store fish oil gelcaps will make me wretch soon after they dissolve - about the time frame you mention.

I take 5mg methylcobalamin every morning and it makes me feel absolutely fine.

Look into something else of your new stack.

Agreed. I occasionally do intramuscular injections of B12 1cc, and never had any problems. The stuff makes me feel energized if anything, and does wonders for hangovers. However, people do react differently to different things, so having an adverse reaction isn't necessarily out of the realm of possibilities.

Only new thing is B12 and creatine. Since thid incident i am taking everything else except the B12. Perhaps my digestive tract doesn't like it?

Creatine makes me feel like poo sometimes. I only get a small amount of it from AOR Vegetarian Booster.

Now that you mention it, I believe I've heard that creatine can cause a sick feeling in some people. Not sure what type of sick feeling it is, but a sick feeling none-the-less.

I feel totally fine and still taking the creatine. The texture of it isn't very pleasant (I like my drinks to be smooth, creatine doesn't always blend fully and can have a slight gritty texture) but other than this the only side effect seems to be increased appetite and a rather scary ability to not get exhausted after lots of physical work.
