I was wondering what you guys bring with you when you travel out of town for a few days or a week. What are your 'can't leave home without it' stuff?

I'm a light traveller so i will probably not bring my entire cabinet full of suppls along, not to mention those that are a pain to bring because it requires refrigeration. I will be going to Miami for 5 days for a conference. Maybe this is a good opportunity to take a break. The thing is though, i will probably be itching for it after a meal. lol.. Maybe i'll just take my bottle of multi.

I take ortho-core, fish oil, and R-ALA in one of those 'old person' vitamin cases when I'm off for more than a few days. I wouldn't worry too much about missing some pills for a day or two at a time...personally I feel it's good to take a break every once in a while. I'd just take your multi's and fish oil, unless you're on a synergistic complicated regiment you've just started.

Also, if it's a night and I'm just crashing somewhere, I'll put a few in a tiny baggie in my zippered coat pocket...pretty much just to maintain something beyond food in my system. Ironically, it's situations like that are always 'unhealthy', i.e party at someone's house, extreme Albertan drinking - which I've been avoiding more or less at school, btw ;)

Yeah, I would usually limit it to five or so, based on what is going to be happening. Heavy drinking would skew it one way, and general maintenance another.

I'd probably lean toward:

Multi
Fish Oil
NAC/Lipoic acid
Taurine/Creatine
Vitamin C
Maybe Lecithin

I usally take everything with me in a zip lock baggie. I count how many days I'm going to be gone and then throw enough of everything into the bag to last that long.

My problem is remembering to take it when I'm on the road.

Any one have problems with airport security?

I could just see it: "Hey, what's that brown powder in the bottle there?" or "What are those capsules?". Or do you just put it in your checked luggage?

Thanks,

-M

I share the same concern. When traveling by air, I'll just bring a multi and fish oil. 1-3 weeks won't make a difference and may be a good thing.

rhodiola
multi

honestly rhodiola is the only thing i MUST have every day, other than that... i consider it a welcome break and chance to cycle off everything else.

Imagine going to Singapore or Bali with some MSM powder in a zip lock bag.....

When I order heaps of stuff from iherb I wonder what customs think when they open the package to inspect also...

> Here's an easy tip for getting by airport security with your supplements. Just be white, well dressed, and clean shaven.

I am white, clean-shaven and relatively well-dressed and I have been pulled aside by security a number of times (approx. 20% of the time I have flown.)

> It's sad but true.

I am not sure if it is true (not in my case anyway) but I see nothing sad about it even if it was. It is a fact that there is a demographic group that is disproportionately highly represented among those people who carry out airline hi-jiackings. This is not prejudice, it is a fact. If we have limited resources for security, it seems only rational that we should focus more of our resources on that group. Is it hurtful to some innocent people? Sure. But so was 9/11. If 9/11 had been carried out by a group of kilt-wearing, hagis-eating Scots, then I'd be more than happy to submit myself to more thorough scrutiny.

I took the following full-size bottles on my last trip (3 days 2 nights):
* Gamma E
* CoQ10
* Rainbow Light Men's One Daily
* Folic acid
* Niacin
* Methylselenocysteine
* NAC
* Vitamin C
* EPA fish oil
* Chromium
* Green tea
* Rutin
* MSM
* Biosil liquid, empty capsules

I think that was it.
