I have been thinking seriously about puttting my money where my keyboard is and stumping up for full membership. For my part this is largely because i appreciate what I have learned over the last year or so from the Supplement and (now less frenetic) Noots fora. I contribute and participate where I can but at the end of the day I'm a net "taker" so it's only fair to put something back.

However, before I go ahead, it would be interesting to hear from full members or "the mangement" what benefits there are; is the full member forum really choc full of exclusive content and chat or is it just a roped off VIP lounge with 4 guys and expensive drinks?

For me, I would be happy to look at it as a donation to a cause I have benefited from, but if it is more than that then this is an opportunity to promote it to other basic members who may also be curious.

Thanks

Sentinel

To start out, although I am sure some other people would like to respond with their personal reasons.

Thanks Live Forever - I did have a trawl through the rest of the forum for coverage of this kind of topic but it seems it was right under my nose.! Doesn't hurt to spread the word to the "click shortcut" basic members like myself.

That discussion is all fairly gushing and "where does the money go" which I'm fine with as I don't see the leadership riding around in Lamborghinis off the back of my $50 (or £25 ;) ) although I do have to say it's a much better image than the one I'm trying to fend off of Zoo naked (thanks for that!).

..and the Full Member Forum? Busy? Smug?

I think the full member forum is one of the more interesting sides of ImmInst, because it is where stuff is made to happen. Less talk, more action.

You'll never think the same of Elrond once you see him in his leopard print leisure suit in the VIP...I mean, full member area. ;) It's easy to catch Zoolander in his leopard print suit (or naked, unashamedly), so it's no big deal.

Seriously though, I agree with Aegist as it's one of the more interesting areas of Imminst. Totally action oriented. It's fairly busy, with minimal smugness.

If you are unsure, the one month subscription is $5....I spend more than that on lunch each day at work. Try it out for a month and make your own mind up.

Guys, C'mon! Your supposed to be selling it, not making it sound like I walked into the wrong kind of bar ;)

Yes I suppose that must chafe a bit, lycra is much more... forgiving. [thumb]

..Anyway, despite your attempts to put me off, I'm going to sign up anyway, I'll just have to avert my eyes from the catwalk and endeavour to focus on the superior research data.

Thanks chaps

Woot!
You don't feel any different because it still says you are in the "Basic Member" group. When you get the tag "Full Member" you hearing will improve, your sight will improve, your sense of smell will diminish (this is because things smell really bad these days in most parts of the world and people complained) and you will be twice as strong!

But seriously ("You were'nt serious??" he thinks) welcome to the club, glad you decided to join us, and I hope you enjoy the simple fact that you have joined. Whether it brings any great advantages or not...

Yup, 3 kids and a dog... although I hasten to add that the dog has had no direct impact on my lovelife either way [huh]

Call me impatient but there still appears to be a "basic member" thing hanging around my avatar like a bad smell. Maybe I was just born to be basic.. [cry]

For an extra $100 a year you can get a nifty gold star to go with it. For $1000 you get a genuine faux diamond and if you still have money, we can come up with something

Hmm. Usually it automatically updates you I thought right when you pay. I am sure it will be sorted out soon.

Thanks Bruce et al (I'm near france).

..and Xanadu, I thought I'd go for the $5,000 option that gives you the right to win all controversial arguments complete with free links to supporting university funded, double blind, placebo'd studies.

Ah yes, it doesn't get much better than this.... Now where's that bar..?
